Gambit and Flipsid3 have qualified for Dreamhack ZOWIE Open Winter, which will take place from November 24th-27th at the Elmia convention centre in Jönköping. They will be joined by six invited teams that are yet to be announced.
The closed qualifier for the $100,000 event consisted of 16 teams playing BO3 series in a single-elimination bracket, and only the top two teams would go through to the Swedish hosted event.
The first spot was contested between Gambit and Kinguin and the first map was Overpass, which the Kazakhstani team were in fact trailing 4-11 at half time on their CT-side. The Poles had their own problems as CT though, and Gambit managed to steal it away 16-14.
The second map was Dust2 and much less of a battle, as it was now Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov and Co. to lead 11-4 at half time, but this time on CT. Winning the T-pistol was crucial if Michał "MICHU" Müller and his men were to have any shot of a comeback, but they couldn't do so and Gambit closed out the map 16-5, qualifying with a 2-0 score.

The last spot was to be decided between FlipSid3 and Epsilon and first up was Cache which was dictated largely by the Swedes having a more than solid T-side in the first half, and though they got reset right after winning the first gun round on their CT-half, Epsilon somehow made it work and counter-reset Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy's men and then closed out the map 16-10.
Moving on to Train, the CIS squad at least had to get something working on T-side, and a 5-10 half could prove sufficient. Winning the CT-pistol proved instrumental in an impressive CT-hold where the Swedish side only cobbled together two rounds for themselves before FlipSid3 made it to map point and equalising the series with a 16-12 win.
On to the decider taking place at Mirage and the pattern of the first half being equal continued, but at the same time Georgi "WorldEdit" Yaskin was looking to deny the Swedes of playing on home ground and with a dominant T-side they could close out the map 16-8 and winning the series 2-1.
